Made Me a Mama

Made Me a Mama

Since I was a little girl I dreamt of being a mama. As I grew up, I dreamt of meeting a boy who would love me enough to make me a wife. Making me a wife would get me one step closer to being a mama. Once I married the love of my life, those dreams of starting a family and becoming a mama started coming to life. After a few years of newlywed bliss, we started to pray for YOU. We prayed that when the time was right, the Lord would bless us with a happy, healthy baby.

The morning that light pink plus sign appeared like magic on my pregnancy test,
You made me a mama.

When I first heard the pitter patter of your tiny little heartbeat at our first ultrasound,
You made me a mama.

The moment I felt the flutter of your itty bitty feet kicking from the inside out,
You made me a mama.

When I got to see your perfect button nose at our 20-week ultrasound and I'd never seen anything cuter,
You made me a mama.

When we found out that you'd positioned yourself in a way that told us you wanted to enter the world by C-section,
You made me a mama.

When you decided you wanted to meet us two days early and broke my water at 3 AM,
You made me a mama.

When I first heard your cry,
You made me a mama.

When the doctors said "he's peeing!" as they welcomed you [this is how I found out you were a boy],
You made me a mama.

When I held all 8 lbs 10 oz of you in my arms against my chest,
You made me a mama.

When I fed you and sustained your little life with my body alone,
You made me a mama.

When you wrapped your tiny fingers around mine,
You made me a mama.

When we gave you your name,
You made me a mama.

The day that my birthday present was bringing you home,
You made me a mama.

All of the times that I cried simply because you were crying too,
You made me a mama.

The nights that I sacrificed the most sleep just to be with and care for you,
You made me a mama.

Every single day since the day I learned of your existence that I have been able to watch you grow, has been the new best day of my life. You've given me my favorite title, you've taught me to love selflessly, and you've brought me more joy than I know how to manage.

We pray that the Lord blesses you with little brothers and sisters, but my sweet boy, you will always be the one who first
Made me a mama.
